Year 10 Enterprise Studies

Although next year timetables are yet to be finalised, course selection is now finished. Any changes to student courses will now take place in January.

Course Description

Enterprise Studies is an introduction to the world of business. In this course, students study concepts from Accounting, Business Studies, and Economics.

An emphasis is placed on students developing financial literacy life skills. Students will build knowledge and develop skills in managing money and income. Students will understand the importance of setting goals, savings, budgeting, borrowing, and investing. Topics such as insurance, kiwi saver, home ownership, careers, etc are studied. Being financially literate will allow students to make better and more informed decisions in their own personal lives. 

Students will also have the opportunity to put their entrepreneurial skills to the test with a market day. Students will learn how to think creatively and work in teams to create and promote a product to sell on a school market day. 


Course Overview

Term 1
Being an Entrepreneur.
Students will study NZ entrepreneurs and understand some of the qualities to be an entrepreneur.

Students will also under-take ''taster courses'' for Accounting, Business Studies and Economics

Term 2
Students will learn about financial intelligence, and life skills around budgeting, saving and "getting money to work for you."

Term 3
Students will start a business, and produce a product to be sold at a school market day.
