Year 11 Sports Science
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr R. Watson.
This is an Achievement Standard course that includes both theory and practical work.
There are three major practical activities throughout the year, The Great Expedition ( a team challenge involving running sea kayaking and problem solving), Basketball /Volleyball and Circus performance. Students participate in these activities while at the same time demonstrating their understanding and awareness of sporting movement. Assessments are in the form of written reports, practical demonstration, verbal assessment and online reflection.
Topics include functional anatomy, biomechanics, responses to exercise, interpersonal skills, influences on participation and strategies used to learn new skills.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
This cost covers the two day expedition in Term One.
