Course Overview
Term 1
We start the year by looking at the importance of ideation in the design process and its relevance within the DVC curriculum.
This divergent thinking strategy then sprouts into the spatial design task which is based around Zaha Hadid’s Architectural philosophies and design aesthetic.
Term 2
The design task usually is student generated through robust discussion with me this year we designed a restaurant, a café, and a super car show room.
Term 3
Next unit is the Product design task, we look at ergonomics and anthropometrics within the design process this year we have a range of different design tasks the students have picked ranging from a worktop area for a designer, a super car seating for a public house.
Term 4
The work is all finalised and the combination of Design development, rendered drawing, 2D and 3D freehand sketching, presentation of a body of work, Computer Aided design and looking into design Eras are all brought together in a portfolio of work which is marked and can be used when applying for scholarships, university places and job vacancies. This year two students are trying for a scholarship and combining two of their design tasks to meet the requirements.
