Course Overview

Term 1
* Inventory Subsystem - how inventory is received and controlled by a business.
We go out and look at a local business.
* Accounts Receivable Subsystem - We study why credit sales are important to a
business. We study steps we need to go through before we give credit, what
we can do to receive the money back as soon as possible, as it influences our
cash flow.
For this AS, we visit Tauranga Crossing and analyse some businesses credit
policy and why they do it a certain way.
* Contemporary Issue - this is an optional AS

Term 2
* Every student signs up to XERO (Cloud based Accounting software). They then do
Accounting for businesses on XERO. It is self-directed learning, but after they
completed this AS, they have the knowledge to use XERO in every day life.
* Accounting Statements - Students study Income Statements, Statement of
Financial Position (Balance sheet) and a Cash flow statement. All statements very
important for every business as well as for individuals.

Term 3
* Accounting Statements - follow on from term 2.
* Interpret Accounting Statements - students gain the knowledge to know what to
do to gain more profit and cash flow.
* Revision - students are prepared to be ready for the Derived Grade Exam

Term 4
