Year 10 Food Technology
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr O. Webb.
Food Technology involves the study of food product development. Students will be encouraged to explore, develop and package food products that are nutritionally sound. All work is new, practically based and students will develop an understanding of food technology and nutrition.
We ask that a contribution of $115 is made to cover the take-home component of food for students selecting this course.
Course Overview
Term 1
Ice cream- We begin the year with an Outcome and Evaluation Unit where the students are creating their own flavour of Ice Cream
Term 2
Burgers- The students will be looking at how to develop a brief by creating a burger to suit a selected stakeholder.
Term 3
International Cuisine- In Term Three we do a skills-based unit on cooking in other countries, this is accompanied by an individual research project on a chosen country’s cuisine.
Term 4
Sweet Dessert- The student will finish the year creating and making a sweet dessert that showcases all the skills and knowledge learnt over the last year.
